"From the time that I first met my Si-fu to the present day, I have found him to be a driving force in my study of Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art. He has always imparted knowledge openly and encouraged self expression"

"This open-mindedness approach to training has made sure that I have not become a slave of the Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art system; rather I have been allowed to explore the infinite avenues the system provides. Personalising the system to myself has provided me with a greater understanding of it and of my whole being"

"As regards my own training I have also had private tuition from Si-fu which as always is of the highest quality. Si-fu is very dedicated to the art and his professionalism and knowledge of Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art was clear from day one"

WING CHUN KUEN KUNG FU MARTIAL ARTS UK WCDKA™ - LEADER

"To limit yourself to a particular person/style/school of thought may make you a perceived expert of that singular and narrow-minded viewpoint or school, but I do not wish to belong to any group or school self-proclaiming to be authoritative. I am always learning, always discovering. Wing Chun Kuen is a conceptual "tool" for solving real problems and must not be seen as a fixed style belonging to a particular individual or organisation. Everyone is unique in his/her own peculiar way. To be a blind follower of a particular school of thought will inevitably lead to personal stagnation. My aim has always been and will always be to allow my students to not only reach their full potential, but to surpass it. I am not interested in personal glory. I prefer to maintain a low profile and let my actions speak for themselves. I have no time for those who insist on displaying their egotism purely for marketing purposes to enable them to attract gullible people in their stifling, regimented environment."

WCDKA teaching/evolving the undiluted "conceptually Yip Man" Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art system rewardingly, since 1995.

The association was founded by Si-fu Lui, Leader - UK and Hong Kong Trained, Qualified, Certified and recognised Teacher - direct Hong Kong lineage.

Si-fu has studied several combat/self-preservation skills for the past 28 years. These include: Japanese, Korean, Western and Chinese - "Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art.

After over a decade and a half Si-fu Lui has devoted a great proportion of his existence to the specialist study and development of the WING CHUN KUEN KUNG FU MARTIAL ART SYSTEM and between private lessons, main stream tuition and specialist workshops he has given thousands of lessons to individuals and groups.

In addition Si-fu Lui is a Personal Fitness & Nutrition Trainer and Stress Management Consultant. He is qualified in Fitness & Nutrition. He has studied Psychology, Sociology & Philosophy. Has received formal teacher training at the Faculty of Education - UCE. He has studied Human Physiology/Anatomy, Physics & Biomechanics of Human Motion. His main field remains innovative Product Design following a BA (HONS) at the University of Central England in Birmingham.

Si-fu Lui initially studied Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art in Central England, UK to instructor level. Firstly with the most (then) qualified instructor that he could identify in the area during that particular time. As a Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art student he attended both private and main stream lessons, as well as workshops and seminars. Si-fu Lui is grateful for all the knowledge that he gathered whilst studying Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art with his UK instructor. It was a solid platform to further development. Per contra, he has always considered his departure from that specific environment a liberating experience.

Useful solely for history purposes: Having departed from his former association and following events, Si-fu Lui contacted Ip Chun Si-fu in Hong Kong whom he had met several times in the UK whilst staging Wing Chun seminars - Si-fu Lui was intrigued by Ip Chun Si-fu’s ability to constantly streamline the subject and subsequently wrote to Ip Chun Si-fu applying to become his student. Ip Chun Si-fu accepted and invited Si-fu Lui to travel to Hong Kong to further consolidate his knowledge of Wing Chun Kuen. Whilst in Hong Kong (1997) Si-fu Lui was also registered as a Wing Chun instructor. A Certificate was officially signed by Ip Chun Si-fu himself "received training from Ip Chun" and endorsed by "VTAA LTD" HK. Thereafter, Ip Chun Si-fu was invited and remunerated to deliver seminars at WCDKA HQ in England UK several times. It proved an interesting experience for all involved. In the context of Wing Chun Kuen and beyond, Si-fu Lui encourages that all his students cultivate an open mind when learning new skills, reading declarations made by other practitioners, articles, books on the subject etc...

Ip Chun Si-fu is a respected teacher and eldest son of the late Yip Man Si-kung 'Wing Chun Grand Father' - Former teacher to numerous students, including the famous actor Bruce Lee.

A word of caution to neutralise potential politics: Please note that since inception Si-fu Lui and WCDKA have chosen to remain an independent, low profile and politics free entity and do not represent any particular individual or organisation in this country or abroad. The information on this page is supplied in good faith and might uniquely be useful for history purpose to prospective WCDKA members. It merely serves to outline the documented facts. It is not designed to denote anything other than what it's intended to signify. Consequently, it must not be used and cannot be opened to self interpretation beyond that which it really is! Our entire focus is devoted towards the development of our students and the undiluted Wing Chun Kuen system. Accordingly, we do not wish to waste our energy on infantile ‘small man syndrome politics’.

Although Si-fu Lui is extremely passionate about Wing Chun Kuen, he maintains that no single discipline whether at work or leisure should overwhelm a person's life. Balance is the key!

Let us move to the perpetual question: How does one choose a Wing Chun organisation/association/club? Essentially, it is up to the individual to make an informed decision regarding their learning. Students interested in studying Wing Chun Kuen in the UK must approach learning with an open mind. Generally, if an Instructor maintains that alas, his/her skill is the "ultimate method" and anything else is inferior, one should consider carefully whether one should pursue any further. Statements such as these are usually laughed at within the rational Wing Chun Kuen community. The Wing Chun style, not only does it vary (visually and technically) amongst different organisations but also even amongst individuals within the same learning place. This is due to the flexible nature of the system. It is the practitioner that uses the system. NOT the system that uses the practitioner!

It is not who the instructor claims to represent or has trained with that it is important. It is his/her personal knowledge that counts. The ability and enthusiasm to deliver accurate information to students. A good technician does not make a good mentor/teacher if he/she is not able to convey knowledge to others in an effective, professional manner - regardless, of whom they associated with previously. Last but not least, one should consider carefully whether or not one should pursue any further if the followings are apparent: A teacher or any of their students passing unpleasant comments concerning other martial arts students, instructors and organisations. This is considered very unprofessional and an ethically extremely poor behaviour which is often acquired by an inferior sense of self-esteem and personal insecurity. A crucial element of being a balanced martial artist is to remain true to oneself and strive to develop a disposition for kindness and compassion NOT malice and contempt. We do not live in an ideal world, however there are some truly amazing people out there. One should not perennially confine oneself in one's own cocoon if one is to appreciate the true meaning of life. 'Live and let live'!

Facts: For the sake of history and thoughtfulness, Si-fu Lui is extremely proud and grateful to have studied under the personal tutelage of Ip chun Si-fu in Hong Kong, China. However, Si-fu Lui's undiluted Wing Chun Kuen technical skills as a practitioner, teacher and fighter are unrivaled to himself and accordingly cannot closely depict the skills of those who have passed their knowledge down to him. Likewise, Si-fu Lui's own students are not and should not be clones of himself, but very unique individuals capable of fully expressing themselves within the given scientific framework that the unadulterated Wing Chun Kuen system is effectual in providing. In other words, Si-fu Lui is merely a ‘facilitator’ not a dictator of knowledge.
