"MY MENTOR IP CHUN SI-FU"

Ip Chun Si-fu is the late Yip Man's eldest son. Born in Foshan, "Canton Province" - mainland China in 1924. From a young age he had a keen interest in his home country culture and in the subsequent years studied history, music and various other subjects. In his spare time he would read many books on poetry and philosophy with particular emphasis on Buddhism.
|
| |
Later, on completion of his higher education studies, he became a teacher of history, science, and music. He used his acquired knowledge successfully by offering his expertise to Chinese opera groups in his then home Foshan. Following events he eventually moved to Hong Kong (1962) with his younger brother Ip Ching. In Hong Kong he worked in the publishing field as a journalist. It was not until this period that he seriously started to undertake Wing Chun studies with his father. He closely followed the good teaching and experience of his father, until he became a proficient teacher himself.
|
| |
In 1972 his father Yip Man Si-Kung passed away and Ip Chun Sifu inherited the responsibility that his father had fulfilled for many years. To preserve Wing Chun Kuen by passing the traditional undiluted system. After over 40 + years Ip Chun Sifu has taught numerous students and many of these students are successful teachers in their own rights. Today, his accomplishment is indisputable

By invitation from his own students/teachers has traveled in many parts of the world to promote the art. At his age he displays an enormous amount of energy and composure. Those of us who have had pleasure to closely study with him, cannot fail to admit that he is truly a great mentor. He is genuine and keen to help those who are seriously interested in the preservation of Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art system. ©

A word of caution to neutralise potential politics: Please note that since inception Si-fu Lui and WCDKA have chosen to remain an independent, low profile and politics free entity and do not represent any particular individual or organisation in this country or abroad. The information on this page is supplied in good faith and might uniquely be useful for history purpose to prospective WCDKA members. It merely serves to outline the documented facts. It is not designed to denote anything other than what it's intended to signify. Consequently, it must not be used and cannot be opened to self interpretation beyond that which it really is! Our entire focus is devoted towards the development of our students and the undiluted Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art system. Accordingly, we do not wish to waste our energy on infantile ‘small man syndrome politics’. |

Facts: For the sake of history and thoughtfulness, Si-fu Lui is proud and grateful to have studied under the personal tutelage of Ip chun Si-fu in Hong Kong, China. However, Si-fu Lui's undiluted Wing Chun Kuen technical skills as a practitioner, teacher and fighter are unrivaled to himself and accordingly cannot closely depict the skills of those who have passed their knowledge down to him. Likewise, Si-fu Lui's own students are not and should not be clones of himself, but very unique individuals capable of fully expressing themselves within the given scientific framework that the unadulterated Wing Chun Kuen system is effectual in providing. |
