| |
On a more cautious note, beware of the (fly by night want to be martial arts instructors). "Whatever their nationality"..! |
| |
It is not who the instructor claims to represent or has trained with that it is important. It is his/her personal knowledge that counts. The ability and enthusiasm to deliver accurate information to students. A good technician does not make a good teacher if he/she is not able to convey knowledge to others in an effective, professional manner. Regardless, of whom they associated with previously! |
|
| Q: What are your feelings regarding alternative Martial Arts/Sports systems? |
| |
A: Our philosophy remains, that any style of self-defence or sport oriented martial skill, has by and large positive attributes to offer to their potential practitioners... (if taught properly)!... Being: fitness, health, spiritual advancement, self-preservation skills and so forth... |
| |
It is up to the individual to make an informed decision regarding their learning. Generally, if an Instructor maintains that his/er skill is the "ultimate method" and anything else is inferior, one should consider carefully whether one should pursue any further. Statements such as these are usually laughed at in the Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art system community. The Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu style, not only does it vary (visually and technically) amongst different organisations but even amongst individuals within the same learning place. This is due to the flexible nature of this martial art system. It is the practitioner that uses the martial art system. NOT the martial art system that uses the practitioner! |
| |
And yet, sadly within the wing chun Kuen kung fu martial art system community, a segment of instructors still insist on producing clones of themselves. These are usually those who's promotion material contain too may words such as: traditional, original, classical, modified, modern and so on and so forth. On the other hand you may encounter the Self-obsessive instructor who's life revolves around representing another, his name and his style of teaching purely for marketing purposes and to subtly implying that alas, their method is the only true one (there exist no other plausible reasons for this behavior). Nevertheless, this kind of attitude will remain their life long commitment. On one extreme, these organisations tent to be anti-progress. On the other extreme unfortunately, you have elements who will study the system insufficiently and because of its popularity they will go on to violate what are a solid set of proven scientific underlying principles due to ignorance and begin to add daft techniques which would be absolutely useless in a realistic scenario. How do you know which one to go for? You don't until it either becomes apparent to yourself via your prior research, and/or someone else points it out to you. (Tough one)! |
| |
Instead of comparing skills with other fellow martial artists, practitioners of any style should focus on improving themselves and their chosen sports/martial arts to the best of their personal ability, and stop wasting time and effort on infantile politics... |
| |
If we are to educate society as a whole, regarding the potential health benefit that martial arts could offer, we must first of all start by neutralising politics and stereotypical preconceived ideas... |
| |
The main objective for attracting prospective practitioners, in "the martial arts" should not be an emphasis to fighting. The promotion of health and vitality should be at the top of the list! |
| |
We have a nation of obese people due largely to advances in technology which makes us all less active. This in turn is complemented by poor food choices, and there you have it the lethal combination for increased health risks. Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art system at WCDKA can seriously help you to bridge that gap to a healthier life style within a safe, interesting and enjoyable environment. |
| |
Whatever your physical and spiritual focus... PEACE! |
