WING CHUN KUEN KUNG FU MARTIAL ARTS UK WCDKA™ DEFENCE
|
| |
THE REAL MEANING OF SELF-DEFENCE IN MODERN SOCIETY
|
| |
To translate the meaning of self-defence as merely an act of defence against a potential physical attack by another person, it is arguably by its very nature extremely narrow and one-dimensional. |
| |
Yet, many people at large are guilty of associating this stereotypical ideal to the Martial Arts. Due to a large extend in the way the general media portrays our disciplines and to a lesser extend, but proportionally significant in the 'macho' way individuals groups wish to be seen. It is for this reason that we have become increasingly conscious that people may have developed a sort of stigma' when it comes to learning, choosing or even approaching a martial arts' club/ association. Perhaps, the first thing that goes through their minds is pain and getting hurt. No one normally likes getting hurt, and no one usually recalls pain as a positive childhood or even adulthood experience. Indeed, on the other extreme TV commercials and movies often do make a mockery out of martial arts with their ludicrous portrayals. |
| |
Through technological advancement, although at times 'pretty' comfortable, we have managed to build a very complex and potentially dangerous world for ourselves. Almost everyone is now exposed to the dangers that our living environment poses.
|
| |
When we talk about self-defence within WCDKA Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art learning ambient, although equally emphasised we are not just referring to defend against a physical attack. This approach would just be too shallow and external. WCDKA Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu is an internal/external martial art. It looks at the holistic approach to self-defence which has to be projected from within. i.e. WCDKA Wing Chun Kuen Kuen Kung Fu martial art system believes that prevention is better than intervention. Although, it must be stressed that prevention is not always possible in a realistic street confrontation and therefore the ability to deal with both scenarios must be explored. Nonetheless, prevention is definitely possible in regards to maintaining a healthier life style. |
| |
The true meaning of self-defence is about the quality of life we lead and the ability to protect ourselves against all external influences which can potentially and without much difficulty have a negative impact on our physical and mental well being, should we become complacent. |
| |
If you have been contemplating for a long time to take that positive step in your life. Now it could be a good time to act. WCDKA Wing Chun Kuen Kung Fu martial art system can help you towards bridging that relatively narrow gap. Take that first step! |

"A friend of mine recommended WCDKA to me and I joined with the intention of improving my fitness and learning a skill, I have gained much more than this which I consider to be a bonus" |
| |
"In my previous martial art discipline many times fly would come across a much larger student at the same level as me and have difficulties applying my techniques due to their larger size. If you are like me (not very big) and you want to be able to defend yourself against an aggressor of any size, this could be for you" |
| |
"Health is another reason why I have found doing it beneficial to me, being asthmatic since a small child, the breathing technique that we use has definitely helped me. Now bad days are much better and good ones are great" |
